Neumayer misses final in Braga
The Salzburger had to concede defeat to Croatian Matej Dodig in straight sets in the ATP Challenger semi-final.
Lukas Neumayer (ATP No. 180) misses out on a place in the final at the ATP Challenger tournament in Braga.
The 24-year-old from Salzburg loses to Croatian Matej Dodig (ATP No. 174) in the semi-final with a score of 3:6, 1:6.
Early Deficit
While Dodig left little to chance on his own serve from the start, Neumayer had to fight for his service games multiple times. At 1:2, the Austrian fended off three break points and leveled the score at 2:2.
However, two games later, Dodig secured the decisive break for a 4:2 lead. The Croatian confidently held onto this advantage, winning the first set 6:3.
Clear-cut Affair
Neumayer also failed to find his way back into the match in the second set. At 1:1, he conceded a break to love, and shortly after, he had to accept the double break for a 1:4 deficit, essentially deciding the match. Dodig then left nothing to chance and secured his place in the final with a third consecutive break.
Thus, Neumayer misses his first Challenger-level final since May 2026. At that time, the player from Salzburg had won the tournament in Vicenza, Italy.
