Rusty Jake Rodriguez qualifies for Grand Slam of Darts!
The native of Vienna pulls off a surprise success in the qualifying tournament. It has not been an easy year for him so far.
Major success for Rusty Jake Rodriguez.
The 24-year-old native of Vienna qualifies for the Grand Slam of Darts, securing a spot in what is, after the World Championship, the second-biggest major tournament of the remainder of the year. In the qualifying tournament, he defeated former World Cup of Darts winner Damon Heta, former European Champion Richie Edhouse, and Tom Bissel.
So far, it has been a year to forget for Rodriguez. He has barely managed to pick up any wins this season and is almost certain to lose his Tour Card.
At the Grand Slam of Darts, where all PDC titleholders automatically qualify, he will compete against the current top stars of darts in one of the 16 groups of three.
