The Spaniard prevails over his compatriot Marc Marquez, who thus extends his World Championship lead in the absence of Jorge Martin.
Pedro Acosta wins the Moto-GP Sprint for the Grand Prix of Malaysia in Sepang!
The Spaniard narrowly prevails over his compatriot and World Championship leader Marc Marquez in light rain. Marquez thus collects important World Championship points against his rival Jorge Martin.
Marco Bezzecchi completes the podium. Ai Ogura finishes fourth, ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio.
World Championship Rival Martin Departs for Now
World Championship runner-up Martin is no longer participating in Malaysia. The Spaniard suffered a broken wrist in the last race and travelled to Sepang specifically to test his condition on the bike.
However, he reportedly lacked the necessary strength, especially when braking. "Together with the doctors, we decided not to continue and to focus on the Qatar Grand Prix," explains Aprilia Team Manager Paolo Bonora.
A start at next week's Qatar Grand Prix is now the goal. In the World Championship standings, Marquez now leads Martin by 19 points.
