Sergio Perez will remain in Formula 1 for several more years.

As his current team Cadillac announced on Wednesday afternoon, the Mexican has signed a new contract that binds him to the US racing team until 2029.

Perez has been driving for Cadillac since this year, after they newly entered Formula 1. However, the 36-year-old – like his teammate Valtteri Bottas – has not yet managed to score a championship point.

"I believed in the project"

Cadillac currently ranks last in the Constructors' Championship. However, as the racing team is only new to Formula 1, this was to be expected before the season.

"Being part of the Cadillac team from the very beginning was a project I truly believed in. Extending my commitment now feels like a natural continuation of this chapter," said Perez.

"Building an F1 team from scratch requires time, tireless work and patience. But the progress we are making together is incredibly fulfilling. There's still a lot of work ahead of us, and I'm fully committed to dedicating myself to it over the next three years," said the veteran driver.
