Penalties for Leclerc and Antonelli in Brazil
Several hours after the race, there are late repercussions for the Monegasque and the world champion.
There are post-race penalties in Formula 1 after Brazil as well!
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) have both received a post-race five-second penalty. However, the world champion gets off lightly.
Ferrari and Leclerc, on the other hand, lose two championship points.
A collision and an unsafe pit stop
Leclerc collided on the penultimate and 70th lap while battling Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls). Although he ultimately came out ahead in the duel against the New Zealander, the five-second penalty drops him down one place to eighth position.
The situation is different for Kimi Antonelli. The Italian was released too early by the Mercedes crew during a tire change to intermediates in the closing stages of the race.
As a result, Franco Colapinto (Alpine) had to brake abruptly, and three hours after the end of the race, the FIA stewards confirmed an "unsafe release". However, this will hardly hurt him, as Antonelli finished fifth, almost 20 seconds ahead of Oscar Piastri (6th/McLaren).
