Even before the summer break, Formula 1's "Silly Season" is already in full swing again.

Recently, rumors have surfaced about Max Verstappen's departure from Red Bull, and there's also speculation about the future of Carlos Sainz Jr., with reports that the 31-year-old is set to switch to Audi.

The Spaniard, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is currently lagging at the back of the field with Williams – only Aston Martin and newcomer Cadillac perform even worse.

The rumors about Sainz, who recently made it clear he wants to focus on his duties with the traditional British racing team, have not gone unnoticed by Audi's regular driver Nico Hülkenberg.

"I've read those rumors too," the German confirmed to "motorsport-magazin.com." However, the 38-year-old is not concerned: "The contracts are very clear. From my side, there are no question marks."

Hülkenberg then couldn't resist taking a dig at Sainz: "The reserve driver spot would be available, but I don't think he's interested in that," says the veteran, who is reportedly tied to Audi until the end of 2027.

Before his hypothetical move to Williams, Sainz was also with Audi's predecessor, Sauber, but ultimately decided against an involvement with the then-Swiss team.
