Formula 1: How Antonelli Becomes World Champion in Mexico
Despite his victory in Austin, Kimi Antonelli still has to wait for the world championship title. In Mexico, the Italian has his next chance to clinch the title.
Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli is on the verge of winning his first Formula 1 World Championship. Despite his victory on Sunday in Austin, the 20-year-old still has to wait until at least next week.
Antonelli now stands at 365 points and is therefore 123 points ahead of teammate George Russell. Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton is 124 points behind the Italian. A total of 125 points are still up for grabs.
Antonelli will be World Champion in Mexico if...
he finishes at least ninth. Then it doesn't matter if his rivals Hamilton or Russell win the race
Russell does not win the race, then P10 is also sufficient for Antonelli to clinch the world title
neither Russell nor Hamilton win in Mexico, then Antonelli is definitively World Champion. Even if he himself fails to score points.
