Red Bull reportedly finds successor for Helmut Marko

According to information from "Motorsport-Total.com", Red Bull is reportedly close to signing Gwen Lagrue. The Frenchman is expected to succeed Helmut Marko in the area of junior development. There has been no official confirmation from either team yet.

For many years, Marko shaped Red Bull's junior program and was instrumental in bringing future world champions like Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen into Formula 1. Following the end of his collaboration with the Austrian at the end of 2025, Lagrue is now set to take on this important role.

Lagrue is considered one of the most respected talent scouts in motorsport. After stints in karting and rally sports, he moved into driver management and made a name for himself as a discoverer of young talents.

At Mercedes, he has been in charge of junior drivers since 2016 and was involved in the development of George Russell, among others. Lagrue convinced the Briton at the time not to pursue a path in DTM, but to continue focusing on a Formula 1 career.

Alexander Albon also benefited from his support after he had dropped out of the Red Bull junior program. Additionally, Lagrue recognized the potential of Kimi Antonelli early on, who has since arrived in Formula 1 as a Mercedes driver and has dominated this year's World Championship to date.
