Antonelli strikes back in second Spa practice
The championship leader sets the fastest time of the day ahead of Lando Norris and Max Verstappen. The Dutchman, like Pierre Gasly, causes a red flag.
Kimi Antonelli is the fastest man of the day at Spa-Francorchamps!
The Italian championship leader set a time of 1:45.944 minutes in the second free practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix, finishing 0.190 seconds ahead of Lando Norris (McLaren).
Max Verstappen (Red Bull) took third place, 0.472 seconds behind. The Dutchman had set the fastest time in the first free practice session.
Russell and Leclerc Disappoint
Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari/+0.747), Isack Hadjar (Red Bull/+0.770), and Oscar Piastri (McLaren/+0.982) were also less than a second behind the five-time season winner.
For George Russell, the practice session was disappointing: The Briton remained 1.285 seconds behind his teammate, putting him in eighth place. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari/+1.524) finished no higher than eleventh.
Two Interruptions
The session had to be interrupted twice: After twelve minutes, the red flag was waved because Verstappen went too wide in Turn 14, kicking up gravel.
Approximately 15 minutes before the end, Pierre Gasly (Alpine) had an accident, hitting the track barrier with the right rear side of his car.
Another practice session follows on Saturday at 12:30 PM, before qualifying for pole position for Sunday's Grand Prix begins at 4:00 PM (3:00 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>).
