Miedler Defends Doubles Title in Gstaad

Lucas Miedler remains the one to beat in Gstaad.

The Lower Austrian, alongside his new Australian partner Marc Polmans, won the final of the ATP 250 tournament against Marcelo Demoliner (Brazil) and Robert Galloway (USA) with a score of 6:3, 6:4.

For Miedler, following his triumph with Francisco Cabral last year, this marks his second consecutive title in Gstaad and his twelfth overall ATP doubles tournament victory.

Dominant Performance in the Final

The top-seeded pair got off to a dream start, securing an early break to lead 3:0. On their own serve, Miedler and Polmans played almost flawlessly, conceding only four points on their serve throughout the first set and comfortably clinching the opening set 6:3.

In the second set, the match initially remained even. Both teams held their serve until 4:4, before Miedler and Polmans struck at the decisive moment. With their first break point of the set, they broke their opponents' serve to go up 5:4 and then served out for a 6:4 match win shortly after.

Title Without Dropping a Set

For Miedler and Polmans, it is a perfect debut as a doubles pair. In their first tournament together, the duo marched to the title without dropping a set. While Miedler celebrates his twelfth ATP doubles success, Polmans can delight in his first title on the ATP Tour.

However, there's not much time for celebration. Miedler and Polmans will already be competing at the Generali Open in Kitzbühel on Monday. At the Lower Austrian's home tournament, the second-seeded title contenders will face Czechs Patrik Rikl and Adam Pavlasek in the round of 16.
