Lucas Miedler is in the doubles final at the ATP 250 tournament in Gstaad.
The top-seeded Lower Austrian, together with his new Australian partner Marc Polmans, comfortably defeated Swiss Jakub Paul and American Ryan Seggerman 6:1, 6:4 in the semi-finals.
Favorites' role affirmed early
Miedler and Polmans lived up to their role as favorites from the start. With two early breaks for 2:0 and 4:0, they set the course for victory in the very first set. On their own serve, they didn't allow a single break point and clearly secured the opening set 6:1 after a strong performance.
The second set initially saw a more balanced match. Both teams comfortably held their service games until Miedler and Polmans coolly converted their first break chance of the set at 3:3. The duo then comfortably brought the lead home, securing their spot in the final with a 6:4 win.
Title chance for Miedler and Polmans
For Miedler, this is his first tournament with Polmans, after the 30-year-old had already played with Alexander Erler, Francisco Cabral, and Vasil Kirkov this year. Now, the newly formed duo is in the final without dropping a set.
On Sunday, Miedler will fight for his twelfth ATP doubles title. For Polmans, it would be his first tournament win on the ATP Tour, after the Australian had already reached the Australian Open final in 2026.
In the final, they await Brazilians Marcelo Demoliner and American Robert Galloway.
