Mercedes Star Hamilton receives Grid Penalty!
The Briton is penalized for impeding in qualifying and loses his front-row starting position.
Lewis Hamilton receives a grid penalty for the Hungarian Grand Prix!
Formula 1 confirmed this approximately an hour and a half after the end of qualifying. The British Ferrari driver will be dropped three places on the grid.
The reason for this is an "unnecessary impediment" against Lando Norris (McLaren). At the end of Q3, Hamilton slowed down on the racing line, which forced the approaching Norris to take evasive action and ultimately abandon his lap.
The 41-year-old explained, however, that his team's radio message came far too late and that he did not see Norris in his blind spot. Nevertheless, after reviewing all the data, the race stewards placed the blame on the driver.
