GAK leaves no room for doubt in Vienna-Donaufeld

Although the Graz side struggled at times, they ultimately overcame the Ostliga club convincingly. An injury to Tim Trummer dampens the celebratory mood.

GAK leaves no room for doubt in Vienna-Donaufeld

In the first round of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup, SR Donaufeld lost 0-4 against Bundesliga side GAK.

An early GAK offensive with prime chances for Mark Grosse (5th minute) and Peter Michorl (8th minute) did not yet lead to a goal. Donaufeld goalkeeper Mark Habetler made a brilliant save against a header from Alexander Hofleitner (13th minute). As time went on, the Regionalliga side found their way into the game more and more, making things difficult for GAK.

Nevertheless, the Graz side took the lead before the break. Salzburg loanee Tim Trummer stormed solo into the penalty area and slotted the ball precisely into the far corner (43rd minute). However, the best player for Graz up to that point injured his thigh and had to be substituted.

It only becomes decisive at the end

The second half began immediately with the second goal for the Styrian "Rotjacken". Christian Lichtenberger advanced deep on the right side and delivered a pinpoint cross, which Hofleitner headed in unstoppably (48th minute).

The game was decided with that goal. In the final stages, Klassen hammered a wonderful long-range shot into the top corner for 0-3 (82nd minute), and Peter Michorl also scored his debut goal in the 90th minute. The final score was 0-4, and GAK advanced to the second round of the Cup.
