A successful competitive season start for the Violets!

In the first round of the UNIQA ÖFB-Cup, SV Austria Salzburg wins 5:1 against Regionalliga club SV Wals-Grünau.

Austria needs some time to become truly dangerous. But after a good fifteen minutes, the ball is in the net for the first time. However, Tamar Crnkic's supposed goal doesn't count.

Two quick goals before halftime

Afterwards, Christian Gebauer narrowly misses, and Salzburg also hits the post. But after a long throw-in, it happens: Christian Gebauer gets to the ball ahead of the keeper and scores the opener.

Just three minutes later, Moritz Eder heads in an extended cross to make it 2-0.

Goal out of nowhere to pull one back

The underdog from Wals-Grünau surprisingly strikes back just before halftime. Lucas Wildmann nets from a corner from the back of the box (53.).

Eight minutes later, however, Gebauer restores the two-goal lead: After a one-two with Crnkic, the Salzburg player scores from a tight angle to make it 3-1.

Nico Lukasser-Weitlaner seals the deal in the final phase (87.), and Gebauer becomes a hat-trick hero in injury time.
