Cup: Amstetten Eliminated, BW Linz Escapes by the Skin of its Teeth

SKU Amstetten is already eliminated from the UNIQA ÖFB Cup in the first round.

They are eliminated by regional league club Deutschlandsberger SC in a penalty shootout, losing 1:3. The score was 1:1 after 90 minutes.

Fuchshofer initially gave Deutschlandsberg the lead (17'), but Haider equalized after an hour (59'). However, a red card for Wimmer (65') complicated matters for Amstetten just a few minutes later.

Nevertheless, the second-tier club dragged themselves into a penalty shootout. There, Deinhofer failed as Amstetten's last shooter, making the upset complete.

Blau-Weiß Linz Rescues Itself in Extra Time - and Wins

FC Blau-Weiß Linz just barely prevented elimination in the first cup round.

Union Gurten already had the Bundesliga relegated team on the brink of defeat before Ronivaldo's 90th-minute equalizer (1:1) saved Blau-Weiß into extra time. Earlier, Seiwald had given Gurten the lead (14').

In extra time, the Linz side then showed their class: Collmann (101') and Weinhauer (104') secured a 3:1 victory for Blau-Weiß Linz.

St. Pölten Wins in Extra Time

SKN St. Pölten also had to work overtime. Against regional league club SV St. Nikolai Tillmitsch, the Wolves ultimately won 2:1 after extra time.

Mane scored the decisive goal for SKN only in the 70th minute, but the underdog, through Oswald, managed to equalize before the end of regular time (81'). In extra time, Gabbichler scored the winning goal for SKN (113').

FAC Advances via Penalty Shootout

FAC Wien even had to go to a penalty shootout against SV Horn but ultimately came out on top.

After 90 minutes, the score was 1:1 with goals from Hafenscher (47') and Budimir (77'). FAC then won 4:2 in the penalty shootout.
