"I had to have it": Hamilton fulfills childhood dream
The record champion has bought his "absolute dream car." It is an extremely rare model.
Even off the racetrack, Lewis Hamilton currently has reason to celebrate. As he announced on Instagram on Tuesday, the seven-time F1 world champion fulfilled an absolute childhood dream by purchasing a Ferrari F40.
"This is my absolute dream car – and has been for as long as I can remember," the 41-year-old Brit shared with his fans in an emotional Instagram post. Due to the rarity of this model, it was immediately clear to him: "I had to get it."
The car was "completely dusty after standing in a garage for over thirty years." He immediately took the F40 to Maranello, where Ferrari mechanics brought the car back up to scratch. "A huge thank you to everyone who worked on this project. This really is a dream come true for me," Hamilton said emotionally.
