Great joy at Ferrari!

Lewis Hamilton secures pole position ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix.

The Ferrari driver (1:16.514) narrowly beats George Russell (Mercedes/+0.009). Charles Leclerc (+0.119) finishes behind the duo in the second Ferrari.

Kimi Antonelli only finishes in fifth place directly behind Max Verstappen (4th/Red Bull). Nevertheless, the Italian is very likely to secure the world championship title on Sunday.

Debacle for Piastri in Q2

However, there is already a debacle for one of the four top teams in Q2. Oscar Piastri fails to make it into Q3 with McLaren and only finishes in a disappointing 13th place.

Furthermore, Audi, with Nico Hülkenberg (11th) and Gabriel Bortoleto (14th), misses out on the quali final. Likewise, it's not enough for Franco Colapinto (12th/Williams), Oliver Bearman (15th/Haas), and Carlos Sainz (16th/Williams).

Alonso triggers a red flag

There were no surprises in Q1. For Alexander Albon (17th/Williams), the Aston Martin duo of Fernando Alonso (18th) and Lance Stroll (20th), and of course for the Cadillac drivers Sergio Perez (21st) and Valtteri Bottas (22nd), the workday ends early.

Furthermore, Ryo Hirakawa fails in his F1 debut for Haas as a replacement for Esteban Ocon. The Frenchman was kicked out of the paddock by the US team beforehand.

Already after a few minutes, Alonso also causes an interruption. The Spaniard had to stop his car in the old baseball stadium.

Antonelli on the verge of first World Championship title on race Sunday

For Kimi Antonelli, his biggest dream in his still young motorsport career could now come true on Sunday.

The Italian leads the World Championship standings with 123 points ahead of George Russell and would become the youngest champion of all time with his World Championship title.

How Antonelli can already secure the World Championship title in Mexico >>>

Whether the youngster succeeds in this will be proven at the race in Mexico (from 9:00 PM, of course, in our LIVE ticker >>>).
