Surprise! Haas replaces Ocon for Mexico GP
The regular driver is replaced by the reserve driver just hours before qualifying.
Surprise ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix!
As the Haas team announced on Saturday just hours before qualifying, Esteban Ocon will be replaced for the remainder of the weekend by reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa.
The Japanese driver, who was already behind the wheel in FP1 on Friday, will thus make his F1 debut in Sunday's race.
Why Ocon is being replaced for the race was not disclosed by the team: "No further statements will be given at this time," it said.
