Tequila or Caipirinha for Antonelli? All that matters is the title
In Austin, too, the Italian demonstrated his strengths. Only a small step remains until the world championship title.
That was a masterful performance from Kimi Antonelli!
The youngster left no doubt in Austin and, after securing pole, also celebrated a race victory. It is his ninth win of the season and another big step towards his first world championship title.
For Mercedes themselves, it is also a strong result again after some more difficult races.
Only one question now remains. When will he secure his well-deserved world championship title?
Antonelli delighted: "It was a great team performance"
It will probably be next weekend in Mexico. Because he only needs two more points to secure the world championship title.

Before that, the joy of the aspiring champion after the race win in the USA is naturally great again. "It was a great team performance today. We are very close. Hopefully, we can secure the title soon," said the 20-year-old.
For Mercedes, it is a sign that hard work pays off and is rewarded, even during a late stage in the world championship. Just three weeks ago, the situation looked different.
The "Silver Arrows" had hoped for further progress and even more dominance from an update package in Malaysia. However, the plan went quite awry. Mercedes not only had to fight against Verstappen in Malaysia and Singapore but also had to concede defeat. Now, a race victory followed again.
"We really deserved it. It's a great feeling after putting so much work into the development," Antonelli stated.
Wolff ahead of the World Championship title: "Then there will be Tequila or Caipirinha"
There was great joy for Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff as well. The Viennese was not only happy about the race victory but also proud of another strong performance from his protégé.
"It was the drive of a champion who isn't a champion yet. He just has to get through in Mexico, then there'll be Tequila. If not, he'll get through in Brazil, then there'll be Caipirinha," Wolff beamed.
Whether the big championship celebration will happen in Mexico already will be seen next weekend (in our extensive LIVE ticker >>>).
