Goalie Lagace Injured: 99ers Could Sign Top Goalie
As the Canadian is likely to be out for an extended period, the Graz team wants to sign a replacement.
On Wednesday, the Graz99ers celebrated a 4:3 overtime victory against HC Bozen on the third matchday of the win2day ICE Hockey League.
The injury to starting goalie Maxime Lagace was a bitter blow for the reigning champions. The 33-year-old Canadian had to leave the ice in the first period. Nicolas Wieser replaced him.
As reported by "Kleine Zeitung", Lagace suffered an adductor injury – similar to the one at the end of last season, when the ailment stopped him in the playoff semi-finals. He subsequently missed the final games.
A Top Player Could Arrive
The 99ers now assume that Lagace will be out for several weeks. Therefore, the club is looking for a replacement.
"As happy as we are with Nico Wieser, we have almost three games every week until December. He will also need a break at some point," the "Kleine Zeitung" quotes Sports Director Philipp Pinter.
According to the "Kronen Zeitung", an absolute top player could join the 99ers.
