Thrilling Finish! 99ers Edge Out Bozen in Overtime
The defending champions were two goals down with four minutes left but ultimately celebrated the victory.
Game turned around!
The Graz99ers secured a particularly spectacular 4-3 overtime victory against HC Bozen in the third round of the win2day ICE Hockey League.
With four minutes remaining, everything pointed to a defeat. But then followed a furious final offensive from the defending champions.
Bozen Starts Better
The guests from South Tyrol started the match better and took the lead after just over a quarter of an hour with a goal from Ratcliffe (16.).
After that, fans in Graz had to wait a long time for another goal. In the third period, however, they got their money's worth: First, Digiacinto extended HCB's lead (45th), then Hora scored to narrow the deficit for the 99ers (46th).
99ers Don't Give Up
With just under four minutes remaining, McClure restored the two-goal lead, seemingly putting the game beyond doubt (57th). However, Huber (58th) and Swaney (59th) forced the defending champions into overtime with a quick-fire double.
In overtime, the home side kept their composure and secured the victory with a penalty goal from Vela (62nd). With this, the 99ers celebrate their second consecutive win.
