The Red Bulls suffer defeat at home against the Sharks from Innsbruck in a penalty shootout.
Another defeat for EC Red Bull Salzburg!
The Red Bulls lose at home to HC Innsbruck 2-3 after a shootout in the third round of the win2day ICE Hockey League. For the former ICE champions, it is their third defeat in the third game of the season. They previously suffered losses against KAC and Bolzano.
The game in Salzburg gets off to an eventful start. Raffl puts the hosts in front after just a few minutes (5th), but Richards equalizes shortly after (6th).
Decision in the Shootout
Salzburg continues to press and regains the lead through Nissner (10th). This time the advantage holds a little longer, but the Sharks equalize again: Owre scores to make it 2-2 after 39 minutes.
As no further goals are scored, the game goes into overtime and then a penalty shootout. In the shootout, both Huber and Nissner miss for the Red Bulls. For the Sharks, Richards and Benker score to secure the win.
