In Overtime! 99ers Turn the Tide Against the Caps

In the 4th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League, the Moser Medical Graz99ers defeat the Vienna Capitals at home 3-2 after overtime.

The visitors from the capital get off to a better start. After a poor clearing attempt, Simon Bourque shoots immediately after winning the puck. His shot is then deflected by Benjamin Lanzinger, who thereby scores the 1-0 for the visitors (11th minute).

But the hosts don't wait long for a response. Paul Huber scores the equalizer after an assist from Josh Currie (13th minute).

In the second period, both teams create good chances, but no goal is scored in this period.

Showdown in the Final Period

In the 48th minute, Jeremy Gregoire gets a shot off. Graz goalie Patrick Grascher manages to defuse this attempt, but the goalie is helpless against Jakob Lilja's second attempt.

In the 56th minute, the Graz99ers once again come back into the game. Josh Currie capitalizes on the power play after a pass from Nick Swaney, bringing his team back into the game with a power-play goal.

In overtime, the hosts don't wait long for the decisive goal. Nick Swaney scores the 3-2 winning goal for Graz after an assist from Frank Hora.

Milano Stumbles in Budapest

In the first two periods, no goals are scored in the duel between the previously flawless Milano HC and FTC-Telekom. In the third period, the Hungarians shock the visitors from Italy. David Silye beats Milano goalie Jacob Smith to make it 1-0 after an assist from Carter Savoie.

Shortly before the end, the hosts extend their lead to 2-0. Aku Kestila scores into the empty net after another assist from Carter Savoie, thus securing Milano HC's first defeat (60th minute).

Rasmus Heljanko once again capitalizes on an empty net against the visitors from Italy, extending the lead to 3-0 (60th minute).
