The unlucky player of this World Cup might already be determined, and his name is Mohamed Hany!

The right-back from Egyptian record champions Al-Ahly has become the first player in the history of a FIFA World Cup to score two own goals in the same tournament.

In Friday's round of 16 match against Australia, in the 55th minute, a free-kick from Australia's midfielder Aiden O'Neill struck Hany's head and ricocheted into his own net, leading to the 1-1 equalizer.

This happened just minutes after Hany had remained on the field following a collision with Australian midfielder Connor Metcalfe during a challenge for the ball near the opponents' goal.

Already an Own Goal Against Belgium

Egyptian teammates showed concern and immediately called for medical assistance. Hany was treated for several minutes, apparently due to a possible concussion, before he was allowed to continue playing. Paramedics were ready with a stretcher, but it was not used.

Hany had already scored an own goal in Egypt's group stage match against Belgium, which ended 1-1. This makes him the first player to suffer this mishap twice in the same World Cup tournament.

Nevertheless, the "Pharaohs" ultimately prevailed against Australia with a 4-2 victory in a penalty shootout and will face Argentina in the round of 16 on Tuesday.

Perhaps Hany will then get the chance to redeem his inglorious record with a goal for his team.
