Thanks to a last-minute goal, Spain wins the Iberico Derby in the World Cup Round of 16 against Portugal 1-0. With Cristiano Ronaldo, another superstar bids farewell to this World Cup.

The early stages are back and forth: First, Oyarzabal appears in front of Costa after a nice through ball from Olmo, but his shot goes wide of the far post (8'). Then Ronaldo makes his first appearance after winning a high ball, but his shot is too central (12').

Spain is more incisive until the first water break, with Costa making two saves from a double chance by Yamal and Baena (17').

Shortly before halftime, Portugal makes another push, with Felix heading a cross to the far post into the center, where Ronaldo can only get a toe-poke on it (37'). Portugal's best chance falls to Mendes, who shoots from just outside the penalty area after a short corner. His effort is deflected onto the crossbar by Porro (41').

Spain with more chances

After the change of ends, it takes a few minutes for the game to get back up to speed. Again, the Spanish find the first chance, with Pedri being played through centrally at the edge of the penalty area, but his shot is just blocked by Veiga (61'). A shot from Yamal is too central (73').

Portugal only gets a clear chance on the opposing goal once in the second half, with Fernandes' volley hitting the side netting (76').

Just as everyone expects extra time, a co-production by two Spanish substitutes decides the match in favour of the European champions. Torres plays the ball through to Merino, who appears alone in front of Costa and calmly slots it in for the lead (90'+1).
