Norway eliminate Brazil, winning 2-0 in the World Cup Round of 16.

As early as the 14th minute, Brazil had a big chance to take the lead. Cunha was brought down in the box by Ajer. After a VAR check, the referee pointed to the penalty spot.

Guimarães stepped up but failed to beat Norway keeper Nyland with a poorly placed penalty.

Even after that, Brazil remained the dominant team. Martinelli broke through on the wing, but Guimarães narrowly missed his cross in the middle.

Vini shines

In the 35th minute, Vinicius Junior created danger with another strong individual action. Ødegaard lost the ball in his own box, allowing Vinicius Jr. to get a shot away from close range. Nyland, however, was there again and prevented the goal with a strong save.

Offensively, Norway offered little for a long time. However, in first-half stoppage time, the Scandinavians got a huge chance to take the lead.

Odegaard's big chance

Haaland was double-marked by two Brazilians in the box, which left Ødegaard suddenly completely free to shoot. From around 14 meters, the captain fired a shot, but Alisson prevented the goal with a strong save (45.+3).

After the break, substitute Endrick had a big chance to take the lead in his first action. Vinícius Júnior played a strong through-ball that bypassed the entire Norwegian defense. Endrick, however, failed to control the ball optimally and shot just wide of the goal under pressure (58.).

At the other end, Erling Haaland narrowly missed a cross shortly after (67.), before a shot from Schjelderup was superbly saved by Alisson Becker (70.).

Haaland settles the game

Haaland himself finally capitalized on the sustained period of pressure: After a cross, he rose highest in the box and headed in to give Norway a 1-0 lead (79.).

Brazil then pressed for the equalizer. Casemiro and a near own goal from Ajer almost brought the "Selecao" back into the game.

But Haaland sealed the deal with a goal from distance, making it 2-0 (90.).

In the tenth minute of stoppage time, Neymar scored to pull one back. But the goal came too late.

The Vikings thus reach the World Cup quarter-finals, where they will face the winner of the clash between Mexico and England.
