Accordingly, discussions about a boycott of FIFA competitions are even said to have taken place within UEFA. This would affect not only the associations but also the clubs – both concerning the World Cup and the Club World Cup.

With a UEFA boycott, FIFA would not only lose the majority of top nations – and virtually all top clubs. A large portion of the TV broadcasting revenue would also be affected.
