Austrian Coach Honored in Czech Republic
The Salzburg native celebrated great successes in Czech women's football, also eliminating Wiener Austria.
Michael Steiner is likely best known to Salzburg fans. The former midfielder played for Austria Salzburg in the 1994 European Cup final against Inter Milan.
He also made it into professional football as a coach, managing SKN St. Pölten (2014-2015) and SV Lafnitz (2023) in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga.
Since the past season, he has been the coach of the Sparta Prague women's team, and with great success. The club won the championship title for the first time in five years, crowning the season with the double.
Austria Defeated
The Salzburg native also made his mark internationally. In the UEFA Women's European Cup, the Prague team reached the semi-finals, also eliminating Austrian champions Austria Wien on their way there.
The reward: Steiner was named Coach of the Year in the Czech Republic and awarded a trophy.
