No Game Postponement: Sturm's Request for Delay Rejected
The Graz side wanted to play their ADMIRAL Bundesliga opener earlier, but nothing will come of it.
SK Sturm Graz doesn't have much time to catch their breath after advancing in the Champions League qualification.
Just a few days after the second leg against Hearts (to the match report>>>), the first Bundesliga match of the new season awaits. On Saturday, the Styrians will visit WSG Tirol for the league opener (from 5 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>).
From the Graz side's perspective, however, the match should have kicked off significantly earlier. As "Krone" reports, Sturm would have preferred the kickoff to be moved from 5 PM to 2:30 PM.
Sky Rejected
The background is the tight schedule: Fabio Ingolitsch's team travels to Istanbul as early as Tuesday, where the first leg of the Champions League third qualifying round against Fenerbahce is scheduled for Wednesday evening.
Therefore, the club submitted a request to the Bundesliga for a temporal postponement of the league match against WSG Tirol. However, this was not granted: TV partner "Sky" rejected a change to the kickoff time.
