Vienna women claim first win of the season against BW Linz

The First Vienna FC women's team can celebrate their first win of the season.

In the third round of the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga, the Viennese team secured a 2-0 victory against FC Blau-Weiß Linz/Union Kleinmünchen. Prior to this, Denny Krcmarek's team had earned two draws.

Havel puts visitors ahead

The visitors had their first chance in just the second minute when Lilah Havel tested Julia Zangerl from distance. However, the Blau-Weiß goalkeeper was able to save it.

After that, the Viennese team created good chances primarily through long-range shots, but the hosts had the best opportunity for now: Valerie Sprung fired from the left side of the penalty area, but her shot only hit the crossbar (29.).

After that, chances arose on both sides, but just before the half-time whistle, Vienna struck: Following a midfield turnover, Karla Kurkutovic fed Havel with a superb pass, and she scored to make it 1-0 for the Viennese team (44.).

Vienna extends lead immediately after restart

Immediately after the change of ends, the visitors struck again: Kurkutovic set up Maja Keckeis with a chip, who then scored from inside the six-yard box to make it 2-0 (47.).

Subsequently, Vienna pushed for a third goal; Havel broke through strongly on the right but was denied by Zangerl, and Jana Niedermayr cleared Kurkutovic's rebound off the line (59.).

Müller misses big chance for equalizer

While the visitors found several good opportunities, Blau-Weiß nearly pulled one back a quarter of an hour before the end, but substitute Leonie Müller missed a huge chance from close range (77.).

In the final minutes, the visitors scored again, but the goal was disallowed for offside (85.).

With this victory, Vienna provisionally moves up to third place, while Blau-Weiß drops back to the bottom of the table.
