Outstanding payments at Austria Klagenfurt again?
The club is currently in turmoil. The designated starting goalkeeper terminated his contract due to missing salaries. Coach Grubor is said to leave despite a dominant victory.
On Friday evening, former Bundesliga club Austria Klagenfurt celebrated a dominant 5-0 victory over WAC Amateure in the Regionalliga West.
One might think that this would bring temporary calm to the Waidmannsdorf camp, after coach Slobodan Grubor was previously harshly criticized by president Helmut Kaltenegger. The gold dealer would rather see Carsten Jancker back on the coaching bench instead (read more here >>>).
Jancker to succeed Grubor in a few days?
But far from it: Despite the dominant victory, Kaltenegger insists that Jancker should take over soon. If it were up to him, Jancker would already be the new coach "on Thursday or Friday," as he revealed to the "Krone". Grubor did not want to comment on the matter but will likely have to at least prepare for his departure.
Alexander Turkin, who according to his own statement was designated as the number one goalkeeper, has already made this move. He was promised the position of starting goalkeeper, which the club did not uphold. Additionally, he claims to be missing salary payments.
Training ban in response to salary demand
Turkin then gave the club a 14-day deadline to settle the outstanding payments. "After that, they didn't let me train for three weeks," said Turkin. The deadline was allowed to pass, so he terminated his contract.
He already has a new employer in sight: FAC is reportedly interested. However, he might initially have to contend with legal matters. Austria shareholder Zjelko Akarjica is reportedly trying to involve his lawyers. "Let him," Turkin dryly remarked.
