After Polster's departure: WAC has new number one
After the previous starting goalkeeper left the club, his successor has now been confirmed.
Whether WAC will sign another new goalkeeper after Nikolas Polster's departure is not yet certain.
However, who will succeed the departed starting goalkeeper is already clear. WAC coach Thomas Silberberger promotes Lukas Gütlbauer to the new number one. The 25-year-old will guard the goal in Saturday's away match against Austria Lustenau (from 5 PM in the LIVE ticker>>>).
"I have no concerns whatsoever," Silberberger told the "Krone". The 25-year-old was actually always "too good to be a reserve goalkeeper". Furthermore, "Güti" "played excellently" against WSG Tirol in spring and "always gave his all in training".
Late, but finally
This also makes a belated promise come true for Gütlbauer. He had already been earmarked as the new number one after Hendrik Bonmann's departure two years ago, but Polster ultimately prevailed.
Now he once again has the chance to establish himself as the long-term starting goalkeeper.
