Dream Start for Marchfeld Donauauen in the Regionalliga Ost
Rapid's Cup opponent achieves an emphatic win to kick off the season. Mattersburg's return to the Regionalliga goes awry.
FC Marchfeld Donauauen are the first league leaders of the Regionalliga Ost.
The season kicked off with a dominant 5-0 victory against promoted side SV Wienerberg. By halftime, it was already 4-0 thanks to a brace from Freissegger, and goals from Mihailovic and Mester, before Zetic rounded off the scoring.
Mattersburg also failed to secure a win in their first game after promotion, suffering a 0-2 defeat against SV Gloggnitz. Wiener Viktoria lost 1-2 at home to Oberwart.
In the Regionalliga West, FC Kufstein secured a 3-1 victory in St. Johann, while VfB Hohenems triumphed 3-2 at SV Lochau. In the Regionalliga Nord, Hallein celebrated a 3-2 home win over Union Gurten, Ried Amateure beat Bad Schallerbach 3-2, and SV Wallern defeated LASK Amateure 2-1.
