Former Rapid player Kerkez lands on Ukraine's "enemy list"
During the match against Ukraine, there was a conflict with an opponent. Kerkez, however, is fighting back against the list.
Milos Kerkez (22) made it to Liverpool FC. The Hungarian was once trained by SK Rapid in Austria between 2011 and 2019.
Now the left-back is making headlines. In the Nations League match between Hungary and Ukraine (0:1), Kerkez intervened when teammate and former Salzburg player Dominik Szoboszlai clashed with Ukrainian Viktor Tsygankov.
His father Sebastijan then published an edited video of the scene on social media, set to the song "Russian Paradise" by the Russian group AK-47.
Kerkez Fights Back
Due to Russia's war of aggression, this has drawn criticism. Kerkez and his father landed on the controversial list of enemies of Ukraine. This is, however, not an official list of the Ukrainian government; it is maintained by the Mirotvorets database.
Kerkez is defending himself against accusations of supporting Russia in the war of aggression. Speaking to "Telex", he states: "I personally have never supported any form of aggression in my entire life, and I am not doing so now."
This also has political consequences. Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban condemned Kerkez's listing in a statement.
