Youngest Goalscorer! Mexican Prodigy Breaks Ancient Record

Gilberto Mora is the youngest goalscorer in Mexico's football history!

At 17 years and 348 days old, the prodigy scored a spectacular goal in the 62nd minute of the friendly match against Colombia, securing a 1-1 final score. Mora had already made headlines in June 2025 when, at 16, he became the youngest debutant for the Mexican national team.

Mora thus replaces Manuel Rosas as the youngest Mexican goalscorer of all time. Rosas, then 18, scored during the 1930 World Cup, over 96 years ago.

Coach Marquez is thrilled

With a market value of 25 million euros, the teenager is already the most valuable Mexican in the squad of new coach Rafael Marquez. Several top clubs from the Premier League are said to have already expressed keen interest in the 17-year-old.

His national coach Marquez raves about the Mexican prodigy: "We already know how good Gilberto is. Now we will try to look after him, protect him, and promote him. He is still young, and we will all do our best so that he continues to develop and shows such performances."

"He will prove his skills and develop further at every club. Hopefully, we will see him in a significant team soon."

Gilberto Mora currently still plays in the domestic league for Club Tijuana.
