Violent Conduct? Sevilla Fumes at Referee After Real Victory
In FC Sevilla's 1-4 defeat on Sunday, discussions arose concerning a potential act of violent conduct by Arda Güler. Sevilla laments the referee's performance after the match.
On LaLiga's 9th matchday, FC Sevilla suffered a 1-4 defeat away at Real Madrid. After the game, players and the coach complained about a red card that was not issued.
In the 23rd minute, Arda Güler was held back by Peque Fernandez during a counter-attack attempt. Güler broke free with a supposed elbow to the chest of the Andalusian.
The scene was not reviewed by the VAR, and the Turkish international did not even receive a yellow card.
"I think it was an attack"
Speaking to "Movistar", Sevilla defender Juan Iglesias complained about the referee's performance: "I think it was an attack. We saw it at half-time."
Furthermore, in the build-up to Mbappé's 2-0 goal, Robbie Ure was fouled by Ibrahima Konaté. The VAR did not take a closer look at this scene either.
Coach Luis Garcia also expressed his indignation at the post-match press conference: "We should have been playing with a numerical advantage from the 25th minute onwards. They deprived us of a '10 against 11' game."
Dig at Real Madrid
The Sevilla coach also couldn't resist making a remark about Real's complaints in the "Negreira Case" (more info >>>): "It is precisely those who complain the most who actually have the least reason to."
Güler then scored a fantastic 1-0 goal for Real Madrid seven minutes after the incident.
After a good start to the season, it was Sevilla's third defeat in the last four games. Only in the match against Levante and Ifeanyi Ndukwe they managed a 3-3 draw.
