GAK star Italiano almost pulls off sensation against Brazil
The Australians take the lead in the second half, with Rayan only managing to equalize in stoppage time. Italiano plays his part.
Brazil had to settle for a 1-1 draw in a friendly match against Australia played on Friday.
The favorite dominated the game for a long time, but the hosts took the lead in the 68th minute with a free-kick goal from Nestor Irankunda. Rayan only managed to equalize shortly before the end (90.+6), saving his team from defeat.
"It was a difficult game. The pitch was not in good condition, but we fought until the end. Therefore, it was a good test for us," explained Ancelotti.
Italiano in Starting XI
Nine players from the World Cup squad were featured in the test match. Vitor Reis, Mauro Junior, and Jair Cunha made their debuts.
GAK professional Jacob Italiano also played a significant role in Australia's success. The 25-year-old was in Australia's starting XI and even had to play with a turban after a head injury. He was substituted in the 84th minute with Australia leading 1-0.
