ÖFB-Kicker Daniliuc gets former Chelsea pro as Basel coach
Flavius Daniliuc has a new head coach. He most recently worked in Dubai.
Following Stephan Lichtsteiner's early-season departure, FC Basel, the club of Austrian international Flavius Daniliuc, has introduced a new head coach.
Serb Slaviska Jokanovic (58) takes over the role. The new coach was at Al-Nasr in Dubai last season. In 2022/23, he worked for Dinamo Moscow.
The new Basel coach also brings experience from the Championship, where he coached Watford, Fulham and Sheffield United.
Champion in Thailand and Serbia
He won titles with Partizan Belgrade, with the club securing the double in 2007/08 and 2008/09. In 2011/12, he became Thai champion with Muangthong United. In spring 2013, he also coached Austrian striker Roland Linz there.
In 2018/19, he coached Fulham for twelve games in the Premier League before the club was relegated. As a player, he appeared for FC Chelsea between 2000 and 2002. He celebrated his greatest success as a player back in 2000, when Jokanovic won the LaLiga title with Deportivo La Coruna.
