Despite Last-Minute Draw: Wolf's Club Battles for Playoff Spot
New York City FC snatches a point at Orlando City in the last second - but playoff qualification remains tight.
Hannes Wolf and New York City FC continue to sweat on Major League Soccer playoff qualification.
The club from the "Big Apple" battled for a late draw at Orlando City. Despite the opening goal by Alonso Martinez (18th minute), which Hannes Wolf assisted, the hosts turned the game around with goals from Antoine Griezmann (32nd minute) and Martin Ojeda (49th minute).
Jonathan Shore, however, scored a late equalizer for New York deep into injury time (90th+10).
NYCFC Still Fighting for Playoff Spot
Wolf, for whom it was his third assist in 25 games, started the match and was substituted in the 82nd minute.
Despite the draw, NYCFC sits in twelfth place in the Eastern Conference with 35 points, three rounds before the end of the regular season. However, they are four points behind rivals New York Red Bulls and ninth place.
In the final three games before the playoffs begin, Wolf's team will, however, face the three weakest teams in the East.
Charlotte and Schnegg Secure Playoff Ticket
Things are going better for Charlotte FC: Although CLTFC lost 2-3 to the Portland Timbers, they are currently in fifth place in the East and have already qualified for the Wild Card Round.
Austrian legionnaire David Schnegg started once again and was taken off shortly after his team's interim 2-2 equalizer.
