Austrian legionnaire loses top match in Turkish Süper Lig
Tyrolean Cem Üstündag was only brought on in stoppage time for Amed SK, by which point defeat against Galatasaray was all but sealed.
Bitter defeat for Tyrolean Cem Üstündag and Amed SK in the top match of matchday 11 of the Turkish Süper Lig. Away to Galatasaray, they suffered a 3-4 defeat, causing Amed to lose some ground on the league leaders.
As a newly promoted side, Amed SK have been enjoying an absolute dream season so far, sitting second in the table with 23 points after eleven rounds played. Following the 4-3 victory in the top-of-the-table clash, leaders Galatasaray now stand at 28 points.
Üstündag brought on late
After around half an hour on Saturday, Gala were already 3-0 up, with Rafael Leao among the scorers to put the Istanbul side ahead in the seventh minute. Amed pulled it back to 2-3 at one point, but Baris Yilmaz's goal for 4-2 effectively sealed the result.
In stoppage time, Amed managed to pull another goal back, with Austrian legionnaire Üstündag coming on almost at the exact same time.
Cem Üstündag left Austria in the summer of 2025, moving from WSG Tirol to Kasimpasa. Amed SK pounced in February 2026, bringing in the 25-year-old midfielder for a fee of 350,000 euros.
In the current season, the Tyrolean has made seven appearances for the Süper Lig's second-placed team.
