Sulzbacher Remains Benched Even in Derby
The ÖFB U21 international is still awaiting his first appearance in the Eredivisie.
At the end of July, ÖFB U21 international Valentin Sulzbacher ventured the move from Red Bull Salzburg to the Eredivisie – but so far, his adventure in the Netherlands has not quite gone as desired.
Even on the fourth matchday, the 21-year-old was left with only a spot on the bench for Excelsior Rotterdam.
At least his club had reason to celebrate: In the city derby, Sparta Rotterdam was defeated 2-1 on Saturday. Aymen Sliti (24') and Nesto Groen (90+2') scored the goals, securing Excelsior their second win of the season in their third game.
Sulzbacher signed a three-year contract in Rotterdam this summer, after the central midfielder had made eight competitive appearances for Red Bull Salzburg's first team.
