Querfeld scores - and Adi Hütter's Frankfurt gives away victory

Despite a hat-trick from Ebnoutalib, Frankfurt miss out on an opening win against Union, partly because Querfeld brings the Berliners back into the game.

Adi Hütter misses a perfect comeback as Eintracht Frankfurt coach in the German Bundesliga.

On the first matchday against 1. FC Union Berlin, Eintracht gave away a 3-1 lead and ultimately had to settle for a 3-3 draw.

The match started incredibly poorly from Frankfurt's perspective. Already in the third minute, Union took the lead from a corner kick through Emmanuel Latte Lath.

But Hütter's team didn't let that get them down. Just seven minutes later, they struck back. Also from a corner kick, there was disarray in the Union penalty area, and Younes Ebnoutalib reacted quickest to score the equalizer (10').

Querfeld with a blunder and a goal

At the subsequent kickoff, things turned very bitter for Union. The kickoff was played back to Querfeld, who, however, had problems controlling the ball. Ebnoutalib intercepted, took the ball from the Austrian, and finished alone in front of goal to give Frankfurt the lead.

After the hectic opening phase, it was quiet for a long time. It wasn't until the 67th minute that Ebnoutalib reappeared, completing his hat-trick - 3-1 for Frankfurt at this point.

Nevertheless, Union did not give up. After another corner, it was none other than Querfeld who brought the Berliners back into the game with a header (79').

After that, the Berliners threw everything forward again and actually fought their way to an equalizer in stoppage time. Tim Skarke scored the final goal after an assist from Querfeld.
