Florian Wiegele was in brilliant form against Slavia Prague – yet Viktoria Plzen suffered a last-minute defeat in stoppage time.
Slavia Prague secured a last-minute victory against Viktoria Plzen.
Against a brilliantly performing Florian Wiegele, the league leaders struggled for a long time to get past him: The Austrian goalkeeper thwarted one chance after another. The 25-year-old made a strong save from a Tomas Chory header (30th minute).
In the 64th minute, Amar Memic even put the visitors in the lead. But Slavia launched a final offensive. Stepan Chaloupek first scored the equaliser (74th minute), and then things really heated up in stoppage time.
Re-taken Penalty Decides Match
The hosts were awarded a penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time, but Chory, once again frustrated in his personal duel with Wiegele, hit the spot-kick against the post (90+6).
However, the Austrian (Wiegele) was not on his line when the penalty was taken. In the re-take, Chory didn't let the opportunity slip again and converted (90+11).
With the win, Slavia remains undefeated and leads the league table with a three-point advantage over Liberec. Viktoria Plzen sits in tenth place after the defeat.
