Florucz scores again! Saint-Gilloise overturns 0-2 deficit
Austrian international Raul Florucz scores in his third consecutive competitive match and initiates Union Saint-Gilloise's comeback.
Union Saint-Gilloise celebrates a 5-2 home victory against Cercle Brugge on the ninth matchday of the Belgian Pro League.
Austrian forward Raul Florucz shines with his fifth league goal of the season, bringing his team back into the game after a 0-2 deficit.
Florucz initiates comeback
Initially, little goes according to plan for the hosts. Ngoura puts Cercle Brugge ahead in the 24th minute with a penalty kick. Shortly after halftime, it's suddenly 2-0 following an own goal by Sylla (48').
But just one minute later, Florucz strikes. The Austrian, who starts a league game for the first time in seven weeks, scores with a precise long-range shot into the left corner, reducing the deficit to 1-2 (49').
The equalizer is subsequently in the air: Former Ried player Nikki Havenaar heads against the post (54'). Shortly thereafter, Sylla makes amends for his mistake, heading in to make it 2-2 after a flick-on from Havenaar (62').
Red card brings the turning point
Just two minutes after the equalizer, Cercle Brugge suffers another setback. Vanzeir is shown a red card for a foul (64').
With a numerical advantage, Saint-Gilloise pushes for the winning goal and is rewarded in the 74th minute. An own goal by Kakou gives the hosts their first lead.
Mofokeng seals the deal shortly after (80'), Havenaar even misses a penalty (84'), and Rodriguez finally puts the icing on the cake in a crazy match (90'+1).
Florucz plays until the 81st minute for the capital club. For the 25-year-old Austrian, it is already his ninth goal in 14 competitive matches this season across all competitions.
After having recently scored in both the Belgian Cup and the Europa League, the three-time international now celebrates a goal in his third consecutive competitive match.
Saint-Gilloise remains among the leaders
With this home win, Union Saint-Gilloise has 23 points and occupies third place in the table.
Cercle Brugge, on the other hand, is still waiting for their first win of the season and remains at the bottom of the Pro League table with three points.
