Jens Wissing's coaching career took a sharp upward turn last season. The German started as an assistant to Thomas Letsch at FC Red Bull Salzburg, but ended the season with a sensational AFC Cup title win with Gamba Osaka.

In the final, they defeated Al Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo. The 38-year-old has since taken over the Saudi top club Al-Ittihad.

Leverkusen Planning Player Return

Now, he immediately faces the departure of a star player. According to "kicker", Leverkusen wants to bring former player Moussa Diaby (27) back to Leverkusen.

The winger moved from Leverkusen to Aston Villa in 2023 for 55 million euros, and Al Ittihad signed him a year later for 60 million euros.

Inter Also Interested

Bayer has already held concrete talks. Inter Milan and Benfica are considered other interested parties.

The Frenchman is still under contract with his club for three years. A transfer is likely only feasible above his market value (currently: 25 million euros).
