Despite Disastrous Start: Polzin Nearing HSV Extension
Hamburger SV has had a historically bad start in the German Bundesliga. Nevertheless, the coaching staff is set to receive a new contract.
0 goals scored, 12 conceded, three defeats, no points.
HSV's start to the season in the German Bundesliga could hardly be worse. It is the worst start in the traditional club's Bundesliga history.
Nevertheless, the coaching staff, led by promotion coach Merlin Polzin, is set to sign a contract extension soon. "The getting-to-know-you process itself is complete. We are fundamentally in agreement. There are minor details, processes that we still have to go through," said sporting director Kathleen Krüger to "Bild" at the weekend.
Important Detail
As the medium now reports, Polzin and his assistant coaches Loic Fave and Richard Krohn are expected to sign new contracts before the next league clash with 1. FC Köln (Saturday, from 3:30 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>).
However, there's a catch. The new contracts are reportedly only valid for the Bundesliga, meaning they would become void in the event of relegation.
