Official: Christoph Freund's future is settled
Recently, there were several reports about a possible extension. Now, the Salzburg native commits to FC Bayern Munich for several years.
There have been several rumors in recent weeks, now it's official: Christoph Freund extends his contract with FC Bayern Munich.
The 49-year-old sporting director will remain with the German record champions until June 30, 2029, the club announced on Wednesday. Freund's contract thus runs for the same duration as those of Jan-Christian Dreesen (CEO) and Max Eberl (Board Member for Sport).
"I am very happy to be able to continue contributing to the development of FC Bayern in the future. FC Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and for me, this task has become a matter of the heart since I started here," Freund is quoted as saying.
The Salzburg native also pursues big goals with Bayern in the future: "We have embarked together on an exciting journey, on which we still have a lot planned. It is incredibly fulfilling to continuously set new impulses together here, to keep FC Bayern where our fans and all of us want to see them: Right at the very top."
