Matthäus on Leipzig: Bosses in Salzburg are "a bit nervous"
Leipzig's head coach was reportedly Jürgen Klopp's idea. After a significant defeat, they are falling short of expectations.
Last summer, RB Leipzig changed coaches despite reaching the UEFA Champions League. Martin Demichelis replaced Ole Werner on the coaching bench.
After the 1:6 defeat against Bayern, the Leipzig coach is coming under increasing pressure. Nine points from six games currently put them in seventh place.
Nervous Bosses in Salzburg
Record international Lothar Matthäus commented on the situation in Leipzig, according to "LVZ", referring to a discussion round in Munich: "The bosses in Salzburg, in the control center, are already a bit nervous. I don't believe they all agreed with this coaching change. The coaching change is still a topic in Leipzig. But not only in Leipzig, but also, as I said, in the headquarters in Salzburg."
Demichelis was primarily Jürgen Klopp's idea, who has since left Red Bull for the Germany national team coach job.
At the headquarters, now in Salzburg, former Salzburg coach Roger Schmidt serves as Head of Football at Red Bull.
What happens next in Leipzig remains to be seen. Two Austrians, Nicolas Seiwald and Christoph Baumgartner, are under contract with the club.
