Confirmed: Patson Daka signs in Germany
The former ADMIRAL Bundesliga top scorer has found a new challenge in the German Bundesliga.
Hamburger SV announces the signing of Patson Daka.
According to media reports, the 27-year-old striker receives a contract with HSV until 2027, with an option for an additional year.
Daka played for Leicester City for the past five years, but was relegated with the "Foxes" from the Premier League all the way to League One (3rd tier). Since the beginning of July, the Zambian national team player had officially been without a club.
In 2021, Leicester paid FC Red Bull Salzburg 30 million euros for Daka. With the "Bullen", Daka won, among other titles, the UEFA Youth League, became Austrian champion four times, and was the top scorer in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga in 2020/21.
Perfectly Meets Requirements Profile
"With the signing of Patson, we have specifically strengthened our attacking center. With him, we gain a striker who perfectly meets the requirements profile we defined: He brings a high level of dedication both with and without the ball and consistently puts himself in the service of the team as a team player," explains HSV Sporting Director Kathleen Krüger.
HSV Sporting Director Claus Costa adds: "In our discussions, Patson impressed us as a very thoughtful, grounded, and ambitious person. We are delighted that he is now part of the HSV family."
Daka Didn't Hesitate
Daka will wear the number 27 in Hamburg.
The striker himself says about his move to Hamburg: "The sporting management welcomed me very warmly and gave me the feeling from the start that there is a family atmosphere here. The overall package made immediate sense to me, so I didn't have to think long."
