BVB extends long-term with leadership trio

Borussia Dortmund continues to place its trust in its leadership team.

As the German Bundesliga leaders announced on Monday, the contracts with Carsten Cramer, Lars Ricken, and Thomas Treß were all extended prematurely. In the course of this personnel decision, Cramer, who previously served as the spokesman for the BVB management, has now been appointed Chairman of the Management Board.

Carsten Cramer's contract, originally set to run until 2027 and covering the areas of Digitalization & Internationalization, Marketing & Sales, and Communications, has been extended until 2031. Thomas Treß, who heads the departments of Finance, Organization, Legal & Investor Relations, will remain on board until 2028, after which he will step down from the management board at his personal request.

BVB prevents Ricken from leaving on a free transfer

Lars Ricken's contract, as Managing Director of Sport, was also extended prematurely and now runs until 2030. Previously, his contract would have expired at the end of the season.

BVB President Hans-Joachim Watzke fully supports the trio, as he announced amidst the wave of extensions: "I have great confidence in Carsten Cramer and the entire management board. They possess the experience, competence, and understanding of our club's unique identity to successfully lead Borussia Dortmund into the future."

He also provided a brief outlook on BVB's future direction: "With the new corporate strategy and the initiated statutory process, important projects have been launched to position BVB sustainably for the future in sporting, economic, structural, and cultural terms. I am convinced: Borussia Dortmund is in very good hands with this management board."
